Top Ten Reasons Newbie Marketeers Succeed

By Lillian Latham

These reasons have nothing to do with internet marketing and have been described by the Oprahs mentor and famous life strategist Dr. Phil (who can be found at DrPhil.com).

Dr. Phil has found that successful people share a common attitude or mindset. His years of study and observation have convinced him that these qualities have to be cultivated before success is possible.

1. Successful marketers have vision. You first have to know what you want to do. This goal will keep you motivated and on track. You have to see it, feel it and experience it in your mind Then get it down on paper. It may be trite but it is true that those who fail to plan are actually planning to fail.

2. Strategy - People who consistently win have a clear and thoughtful strategy. They know where the finish line is and because they have written down their strategy they know what they need to do and when they need to do it to get there. They are able to avoid any actions that don't get them closer to their goal.

3. Investment. You need to live and breathe what it is you want, and be passionately invested in both the journey and the goal. Passion makes getting up in the morning easy, passion makes turning off the tv and sitting down and accomplishing another step towards your goal a snap. Without passion you might as well watch tv!

4. Realism - Successful marketers are realistic. They have no room for denial, fantasy or fiction, and they hold themselves to high but realistic standards. They deal with the truth, since they recognize that nothing else will make their vision obtainable.

5. Successful marketers are flexible. They recognize that life is a journey. Plans must sometimes be altered and changed. You are open to new ideas and are willing to be wrong. They recognize that mistakes are lessons rather than disasters.

6. Take Risks. Risk taking and a willingness to get out of your comfort zone is crucial. You need to welcom the new and uncomfortable challenge and be prepared to take it on.

7. Cheering Section - Surround yourself with positive people who want you to succeed. These people will move with you toward your goal and encourage you when you get downhearted. Try to find people who have skills, talents and abilities that you do not. Winners give and receive by being part of other people's cheering sections.

8. Take Action. Just Do it! Remember the story of the tortoise and the hare - the tortoise won the race because he kept his eye on the goal and put one step in front of the other. Russell Brunson of Dot Com Secrets fame has a motto READY, FIRE, AIM. To many good ideas die because the people who had them are still perfecting them.

9. Prioritize - Successful recognize what is priority number one and spend time on it. Winning consistently comes down to managing the challenges and distractions that attack us every day.

10. Recognize that you are the most important resource you have and look after your mental, physical and emotional and spiritual health.

Once you have created the right mindset, then you will succeed, not only in marketing, but in any area that you choose. - 20578
